Welcome To My Class

So today is the big day for 21 new students! I am very excited about the new year, not only because of all the great ideas I want to implement, but I know so many of the students who will be in my class. Many of them since they were babies!!  I worked last week to get everything together, but of course there is always more to do.

Welcome to my class:)

I love how the surfboards came out

All the kids take off their shoes before they come in

I hope this set up works for me, I like all of the space

  3. I love it!! Your room looks great! Your students should love it. Hawaii was on my wish list when I was in the military. Needless to say I never made it there because I probably would not have wanted to leave! Have wonderful first day and school year.

  10. Okay, I would love to be in your class! The Hawaiian theme is so great! Thank you for inspiring me! I need to store my clipboards and rulers like that. They take up so much space if not stored well. AND I love the pineapple! CLEVER!

  11. Your room looks fabulous! I hope you have a great FIRST day of school! So in Hawaii, do all the kids wear flip flops (you call them slippers right?) and take them off at the door? That will definitely take some getting used to for me! What about you? Do you take your shoes off, too?

    1. Susan, it is a Japanese custom to take your shoes off at the door. Anyone who comes to visit will automatically take off their shoes before they enter a home. If you don't you know they are not from Hawaii!

  17. Best wishes for a splendid school year! I enjoyed my virtual visit to your classroom. :) Thanks for sharing it. The closest we get to taking off our shoes is when we trade boots for shoes in the winter!

  23. What a great big room you have! I love it. Your bulletin boards are very cute. As I was looking at them, I came across your "Star of the Week" and I got to thinking that you should have it say "Surfer of the Week". :) I hope you had a wonderful day with your students today. My students first day is August 15. It is coming soon.

  25. Great pics! Your room looks wonderful!!
I love that you make the kids take their flip flops off ~ I wish we could do that ~ but seeing as how it's either cool or chilly or cold most of the year, they have to have shoes on just in case we need to exit the school quickly.
I like how you set up your desks, too. I've done it that way before, and you're right, it totally frees up lots of floor space.
Have fun ... I'll be thinking of you during the next 4 1/2 weeks while I'm still on vacay -- ha ha. Don't hate me!

  26. Wow, I just LOVE your room! Of course, I have had a beach theme since I started teaching 5 years ago, so it's right up my alley!

Can you tell me how the buckets work? I know the general idea of "filling a bucket" but just curious how you do it. :)

I also LOVE your writing center! I'm going to see if I can create a space for that in my room this year. Thanks for the inspiration!

Lastly, I want to move to Hawaii. Well, in all fairness, I've never been. But I know I'd love it! :)
