I really love those tumblers from Target, what a cool idea for them and they are such a nice color and texture! I'm pinning your writing center in about two seconds--I love how you set it up with the buckets, so nice Corinna! Thanks for the shout out and I am over the moon to see the signs in your room :) :) :) How adorable, all those flip flops waiting on the mat!

DeleteOkay, I would love to be in your class! The Hawaiian theme is so great! Thank you for inspiring me! I need to store my clipboards and rulers like that. They take up so much space if not stored well. AND I love the pineapple! CLEVER!

Miss A's Kindergarten
Mahalo Sarah:) Just recycle a few things and put on a cute label and it will brighten up any room!
DeleteYour room looks fabulous! I hope you have a great FIRST day of school! So in Hawaii, do all the kids wear flip flops (you call them slippers right?) and take them off at the door? That will definitely take some getting used to for me! What about you? Do you take your shoes off, too?
ReplyDeleteAngelia
Extra Special Teaching
Lol, sometimes I do:) When I first started working here, lots of kids came without ANY shoes on. You need to just make sure you always have a nice pedicure;)
DeleteWell, any reason to get a pedicure is a good reason for me!
DeleteAngelia
Hi Corrina,
ReplyDeleteYour classroom looks great! I love the pineapple on your desk and the tablecloth on your guided reading table. Hope you enjoyed your first day with your new students.

Mahalo Kimberly, we did have lots of fun:)
DeleteWow, Corrina! Your classroom looks fabulous! I love that poster. Is it for sale in your store? Thanks for inspiring me. I'm headed to my class to start unpacking and it's great to see such a wonderful finished classroom to remind me there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
ReplyDeleteMercedes
Thanks so much Mercedes:)) I had fun bringing new things in and creating that poster. I do have it in my store, but I had it turned into a poster through Vista print:) Good luck in setting up, I know it takes time!

DeleteLooks fresh, warm, and inviting! I know your kids are excited!! Why do they take off their shoes???????? Thanks.
ReplyDeletesusanlulu@yahoo.com
Susan, it is a Japanese custom to take your shoes off at the door. Anyone who comes to visit will automatically take off their shoes before they enter a home. If you don't you know they are not from Hawaii!
DeleteBest wishes for a splendid school year! I enjoyed my virtual visit to your classroom. :) Thanks for sharing it. The closest we get to taking off our shoes is when we trade boots for shoes in the winter!
ReplyDeleteYour room looks so welcoming! I hope you had a fun first day:)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Anne:)
DeleteSo you know when my hubby and I move to Hawaii I am going to expect a good word to your principal for me;) I LOVE your room! Happy 1st day!

I know, I think starting in July is a bummer:( It was really hot and muggy, but we had a great day:)

DeleteLove your room!! So welcoming and inviting! Have a wonderful year!
ReplyDeleteHeather (heathernnance@yahoo.com)
Mahalo Heather!!
DeleteWhat a great big room you have! I love it. Your bulletin boards are very cute. As I was looking at them, I came across your "Star of the Week" and I got to thinking that you should have it say "Surfer of the Week". :) I hope you had a wonderful day with your students today. My students first day is August 15. It is coming soon.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Flickinger's Butterfly Oasis
What a great idea!! I may have to change that once I get my new bulleting board letters!! Enjoy the rest of your vacation, it goes so fast:)
DeleteI used to have mine say "Star Surfer." LOVE!
DeleteIt looks fabulous Corinna! So bright and cheerful and so you!
ReplyDeleteJourney of a Substitute Teacher
Aww, thank you Tanja;)
DeleteI absolutely love your classroom. If I were your student, I'd want to stay there all day long! So bright and cheery!
ReplyDeleteGood Job!
Andi
Mahalo Andi!
DeleteGreat pics! Your room looks wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI love that you make the kids take their flip flops off ~ I wish we could do that ~ but seeing as how it's either cool or chilly or cold most of the year, they have to have shoes on just in case we need to exit the school quickly.
I like how you set up your desks, too. I've done it that way before, and you're right, it totally frees up lots of floor space.
Have fun ... I'll be thinking of you during the next 4 1/2 weeks while I'm still on vacay -- ha ha. Don't hate me!

DeleteWow, I just LOVE your room! Of course, I have had a beach theme since I started teaching 5 years ago, so it's right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me how the buckets work? I know the general idea of "filling a bucket" but just curious how you do it. :)
I also LOVE your writing center! I'm going to see if I can create a space for that in my room this year. Thanks for the inspiration!
Lastly, I want to move to Hawaii. Well, in all fairness, I've never been. But I know I'd love it! :)

I love your classroom! So bright and cheerful! I taught in Maui for the past three years and just came back home to NY! I'm setting up my classroom and I just HAVE to have those cute little metal pails that you have at your writing center, but I haven't been able to find any anywhere! Do you remember where you got them? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAloha Nicole! I bought them at Price Busters when it was open here. I have purchased little ones at Target though. Maybe try a local craft or Hobby Lobby :)
DeleteI really like your classroom set up. I love your behavior chart cards. Where did you get those from?
