Aloha everyone! Happy Monday. When you are on vacation everyday is a happy one, well almost. I had a terrible day yesterday :( I got up early and went surfing for the first time in awhile, but forgot my spare key. I didn't want to drive all the way home so I took my electronic key off my key chain and stashed it in the bushes on the beach. When I finished surfing I went to go get my key and could not find it!! You know that feeling of dread? I went to my car and it was completely cleaned out!! I didn't have my wallet in there, but they took my phone and all of my surf gear, plus they have my electronic key :((((
So there I was with my bikini on, no towel, (they took that too), no phone to call anyone and crying in my car. Luckily I wasn't too far from home and a friend of mine showed up to surf. I don't usually get emotional over things like that, but I was pretty upset.
I talked to a few people who were in the area and they said it happens all the time. Apparently it is a huge problem and the police are not much help. So calling my insurance today to see if they will cover the cost of replacing the locks and keys on the car. I guess it was a good thing they just grabbed all the goods and left the car.
But onto better days right?! Not going to let this get me down!
Just a quick post today to update you on my Common Core Posters. I created these last summer and they have been some of my Best Selling items.
I now have all my sets finished for grades 1-3 in both Language Arts and Math. I also have them in 3 different designs for each grade - Tropical Dots, Chevron and Plain.
The different strands have a different color to help you organize them. Check out this post to see how I use them in my class. It was so handy to have these in a binder by my desk. I could quickly find my standard and post it up on my whiteboard for my lesson.
Here is a preview of what each set looks like.
So just for fun I am having a Pin It To Win it contest this week. Pin any of these that you like and leave me a comment below. I will choose someone to win the ELA and Math pack of their choice on Thursday. Don't forget your email!
You can click any of the pics of your grade level above to take you to my TpT store.
Thanks so much for stopping by and good luck!!

Corinna !!!! I am so sorry, that is terrible, such an awful feeling. You always have such a positive attitude.....hope your next outing has a happier outcome!
ReplyDeleteYour creations are gorgeous, but mostly I'm just numb about your stuff being lifted ... and inspired by your positively attitude and willingness to let go and move forward. Sometimes I get stuck obsessing about the injustice of something like that ... like the time my purse was stolen and I found it gutted in the bathroom at the restaurant ... and it takes me FoReVeR to move passed it.

Thanks Barbara. I was pretty down about it yesterday, but in the end it is just a material item. I am a firm believer in Karma. I still had my car and my surfboard, and my new phone is not as fancy as my old one, but it has some fun features:)
DeleteI would love to have the 2nd grade posters for my classroom next year! So cute and very useful! I pinned it! Thank you so much!

Even when things got you down, you held your head up and went on- I would have still been crying today if that happened to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving us all the chance to win. I pinned the chevron and the dots- they are both so cute...

Deleteso sad about your day at the beach. You are safe and that is all that matters, all that other stuff can be replaced. It is annoying to replace :( They wanted to ruin your surf day!
ReplyDeleteThese posters look great.

DeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your bad day! Our greatest break-in theft (we've had a few) was a couple of days after Christmas and we had cash and gift cards in our suitcases in the car. It was a bummer, but years later, it was only money and we are safe and happy! Here's hoping something good Karma-wise comes your way soon!
ReplyDeletekemenielsen@yahoo.com
I agree, it is only material and can be replaced eventually ;)

I pinned these a few days ago, not knowing you had a contest and just purchased the chevron math and ELA sets for 3rd grade! :) My question is, do you know an inexpensive place to have these printed in color? I just uploaded both sets to staples and it was going to be $95! I love them, they just might have to be printed in B&W though :( http://pinterest.com/pin/40673202857346095/

Aww. I'm so sorry that happened to you Corinna.

All I can say is I am sorry, but on another note, I am very grateful for the CCS posters you sent me. I love them and can't wait for the Kinder ones to come out. Hope it gets better.

Ugh- how awful! It's so hard when you think you can trust the general public to just not be jerks, and then they let you down. Oh well- hopefully that person was desperate and truly needed something more than you did. (If I don't look at it as a possible blessing, it's a lot tougher to take!)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are okay!
